Hello & thank you for taking the time to read this! I have spent most of my life fundraising for numerous causes as well as donating to causes I am passionate about. I have cycled on and off throughout my life, yet after being diagnosed with Leukemia, I accelerated my love for being on a bike through training with Team in Training to ride our bikes around Lake Tahoe (6 years in a row) to benefit the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (I am now quite gratefully in remission).
After retiring from Kaiser Permanente after 35 years of service, I wanted to find a meaningful cause to focus for my next volunteer endeavor and since having the absolute joy of riding with the Sonoma County Biker Chicks (part of the Sonoma County Bicycle Coalition) the past few years and appreciated I knew this would be it!
A few reasons why this non-profit (SCBC) means so much to me
- they advocate for our safety on the roads
- between climate change and rising gas prices, cycling is an excellent transpotation option
- cycling is something that can be enjoyed solo or with family and friends
- riding a bike is fun and great exercise!

Since 2001 the Sonoma County Bicycle Coalition has been working to make Sonoma County a great place to ride a bicycle. We are the largest and most effective bicycle advocacy group in Sonoma County. The Sonoma County Bicycle Coalition serves as a strong voice for increasing and improving the cycling infrastructure throughout Sonoma County. Through the Safe Routes to School Program we work to increase the number of students who walk or ride bicycles to school.
The Sonoma County Bicycle Coalition is celebrating 21 YEARS of pedal power...and we couldn't have done it without the support of our peloton of supporters!
