Our SCBC Background: Donn and I were members of the Sonoma County Bicycle Coalition long before my three-year stint as a Board Member after his death. Throughout it all, at meetings, events and celebrations, we found ourselves warmly and enthusiastically received and supported by everyone from the founding members to its new afficionados. SCBC became our community, and soon we, too, were advocating for All-Things-Bicycle-Safety-and-Riding-Joy.
One of the projects we were particularly proud of was working for paving the north path from Fulton Rd. to Willowside, resolutely wrestling against senseless opposition from a very few persons who mistakenly feared the advent of "unknowns" anywhere behind their homes. Instead, it became a place where persons of all abilities could comfortably walk or ride. Long-time disability advocate Hollynn D'Lil joined us in these efforts, and my fundraising here is also in her memory.

I've seen so many changes over the years, from paths to innovative community rides (Biker Chicks! Taco Tuesdays!), legislation and education, safety markings and, at long last, Ciclovia. Let's continue to convert such visions into reality, and to make Sonoma County a place where we can always say "Si Se Puede!" - "We Can Do It!"
