Description

Putting Plans into Action: How Active Transportation Networks are Built

In 2025, every city in Sonoma County will adopt new longterm plans guiding the creation of their bicycle and pedestrian networks. These plans are the result of over a year's worth of study and public input on what these networks should look like -- how residents can get to schools, workplaces and local businesses safely without a car.

But now that these plans have been formally approved, what happens next? How are specific projects chosen for construction? And who pays for them?

The Sonoma County Bicycle Coalition is hosting its second Advocacy Summit focusing on how Active Transportation Plans move from vision to reality, and the need for community members to stay involved in the process. Our speakers will address topics including project prioritization, funding and how advocates can engage with local officials. We also look forward to a roundtable welcoming all attendees to share information, challenges and success stories from their communities.

With lively discussion and plenty of opportunities for Q&A, this event promises to benefit all safe cycling advocates, whether you have been fighting the good fight for many years or are new to the cause.

Lunch will be provided, but feel free to bring your own food. Bike parking will be available.
